The talents of three Cross Trust beneficiaries were showcased at the inaugural Cross Trust Young Musicians concert, as part of 2019 Perth Festival of the Arts.

Anna Michels delighted a packed audience with Beethoven, Rachmaninov and Chopin, as well as lesser-known work by 20th C Scots composer, Ronald Center.   And, unusually for a concert pianist, Anna stepped away from the piano to the microphone and shared with the audience the thinking behind her choices for the evening.

Iona Fyfe, accompanied by guitarist Jack Badcock, gave us sparkling songs and ballads drawn primarily from her Aberdeenshire traditional folk heritage, rigorously researched and sung with great charm, humour and clarity.

Jazz singer Luca Manning, accompanied by David Swan on piano, seduced and captivated his audience with an astonishing range of material from his take on jazz standards to Joni Mitchell’s Two Grey Rooms.

All three Cross Trust beneficiaries took to the stage together to close the concert with their version of Burns’ Ae Fond Kiss; a perfect end to a memorable evening.
